KEITH JONES NAMED GNAC ROOKIE-OF-THE-WEEK


Mount Ida College men's basketball sophomore guard Keith Jones (Boston, MA/Cathedral) has been named this week's Mustang-of-the-Week.  This is the second week in a row that Jones has been honored with the award with another outstanding individual performance over the weekend at the 25th Annual Harbor Invitational hosted by UMASS-Boston.  Jones was also selected as the Rookie-of-the-Week for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) after his steller performance over tht weekend.  This is his first GNAC honor of the season so far. 

Jones led the Mustangs to an open round victory over hosting UMASS-Boston on Friday night winning 86-60 scoring a game high 28 points with six rebounds and three assists sending Mount Ida into the Harbor Invitational championship game against Embry-Riddle University. 

Although the Mustangs dropped a disappointing 85-67 loss to the Eagles in the final game, Jones had another solid outing with 24 points along with four caroms and four assists.  He was named to the Harbor Invitational All-Tournament team for his exceptional play throughout the weekend.

In the three games the Mustangs have played so far this season, Jones is averaging 24.0 points per games and is near perfect from the free throw line going 17-18 good for .944 percent.  

Mount Ida men's basketball hosts their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest this coming Tuesday against visiting Emmanuel College starting at 6:00 p.m.
