Athletics Events to Highlight Mount Ida Fall Fest Weekend

Newton Centre, MA – The 2016 edition of Mount Ida College's Fall Fest Weekend is quickly approaching and the weekend of October 21st-22nd will offer a number of events for current students, alumni, family, and friends to enjoy. With four teams competing at home this weekend, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with Mustang Athletics.

The festivities will start Friday night with the Mount Ida Field Hockey team taking on conference foe, Anna Maria College at 7:00 pm on Alumni Field.

The same night, in the Wingate Event Center, the Alumni Awards Reception and Dinner will begin at 6:30 pm. The Annual Alumni Awards Ceremony will feature the presentation of the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award, Ann Poley Hewitt '58, the 2016 Alumni Service Award, Stacey Dorsey '00/'02, and the induction of women's basketball player Kristin Santos '07, and men's lacrosse alumni Brett Conley '09, into the Mount Ida Athletics Hall of Fame.

Upon the conclusion of the Field Hockey game and the Alumni Rewards Reception, all Alumni, Family, and Friends will be encouraged to attend the Alumni Party mixer at Mick Morgan's Restaurant and Pub beginning at 9:00 pm, with the nights' proceeds going to the Mount Ida College Athletic Association.

The Following day will begin with the Brian Eyles Memorial Lacrosse Alumni Game set for 10:00 am on Trustee field. The 2016 Mount Ida Men's lacrosse team will take on an Alumni team featuring over twenty former All-Conference performers.

Varsity Competition will follow beginning at noon as the Mustangs Football team will take the field against ECFC opponent Becker College over at Alumni Field. The Mustangs will be looking to avenge last season's loss to the Hawks, who they are 10-1 against all-time in program history.

Following the football game, Men's and Women's Soccer takes to Alumni Field for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader against local rival Emmanuel College. The Saints will take the short drive to the Mount Ida Campus for a 5:00 pm women's game and a 7:00 pm men's tilt to close out the weekend.

Capping off Saturday's events will be the Alumni Night at Union Street in Newton Center, beginning at 5:30 pm, with the proceeds going to the Mount Ida Annual Fund.
