NEWTON, Mass. – One of the tenants of Mount Ida's Vision 2020 Initiative is to provide a sustainable campus environment that fosters engagement and pride.
Beginning this year, the athletic department is helping to realize that vision by making the switch to digital programs for all home games of Mount Ida's 16 varsity sports.
Fans of the Mustangs can expect to receive the same information on game days, as the digital programs will continue to be packed with stats, schedules, rosters and information on each team, but will now be accessible on their personal electronic devices.
In addition, live links on digital game programs will allow fans to navigate directly to related pages on the website and to engage with Mount Ida Athletics Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts with just the touch of a button.
"I'm incredibly excited about the move to digital programs, both for the sustainability factor and for the fan experience," said Director of Sports Information Craig Kaufman, who brought the idea back to campus from a session at this year's College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) convention.
"Reducing the incredible amount of paper that is used to print game programs throughout a school year is in line with the school's commitment to move towards a sustainable campus."
Digital game programs will be posted by 11:00 AM on the day of a game, and in many cases will be available a day before. The current program, as well as an archive of every digital program from the season, will be available at mountidamustangs.com/programs.
Fans should bookmark this site on their personal devices for easy access each time they come to a game. There will also be banners at each home event reminding fans how to access digital programs, either with a QR code reader or by navigating through the website.
There will be a limited amount of paper programs on hand for those who require one. Fans are also invited to print out the program themselves from online, either to bring to the game or to save as a keepsake of your favorite Mount Ida athletes and teams.
"Having electronics in the palm of your hand is so important to so many people, so it makes sense to bring our game programs right to our fan's fingertips," added Kaufman. "With this campaign, we are going to provide a more engaging, informative and convenient experience on game day, while working towards a more responsible and sustainable campus throughout the year."
The first digital programs will premiere for Friday, September 1st, when Mount Ida field hockey and women's soccer open up the season with home games at Alumni Field.
