WINTHROP, Mass. – Sophomore AnnaMarie Seiler (Biddeford, Maine) and freshman Ginger Boodakian (Burlington, Mass.) became the first Mount Ida College student-athletes of 2017 to be recognized as Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvias Players of the Week.
Boodakian was tabbed as GNAC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week, and Seiler earned GNAC Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week accolades, as the awards were announced Monday afternoon by the conference office.
After slotting into the top spot in the Mount Ida lineup in her freshman year, Boodakian was a double-winner on Saturday as the Mustangs collected a 7-2 win over Becker College, the Mustang's first win of the season.
Boodakian earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at first singles and also teamed with fellow first year Molly O'Donnell (Danvers, Mass.) to collect an 8-4 victory at #1 doubles.
Seiler was in between the pipes for the Mustang's 2-0 win over Becker Saturday afternoon. She made eleven stops in 90 minutes and earned the first complete game shutout of the year for a Mount Ida keeper, as the Mustangs have as a team kept three clean sheets in four games.
Women's soccer is back at home Wednesday evening with a 7:00 pm GNAC game against Rivier. The tennis team takes the court on Saturday with their GNAC opener at Albertus Magnus at 1:00 PM.
