NEWTON, Mass. – Amanda Lineman will be joining the Mount Ida College Athletic Department in the fall of 2014 as the new Head Coach of the cheerleading team, athletic director Matt Burke announced on Thursday afternoon.
Lineman is a 2011 graduate of Mount Ida College, where she earned a degree in Business Management. She was a four-year member of the Mustangs' cheerleading squad, and a three-year captain. As a senior, she received the ECAC Merit Award for excellence in athletics and commitment to the community and the institution.
"We are excited to bring Amanda into our department to lead our cheerleading team," said Burke. "Her wealth of experience as a cheerleader will be invaluable to the program, while her familiarity with Mount Ida make this position a natural fit for her. We warmly welcome her back to campus."
Involved in gymnastics since she was three years old, Lineman was placed on a competitive cheerleading team in 2002 and participated in All-Stars for the following five years. She attended Littleton High School before graduating Sigma beta Delta from Mount Ida.
Lineman is currently working towards a Master's Degree in Sports Science at United States Sports Academy.
The Mustang cheerleading team is a fixture on the sidelines at Mount Ida's home football games. The team also takes part in a competitive season, where this past year they placed fourth at their lone event at the University of Rhode Island.
