Cheerleading Opens Competition Season with 5th Place Showing

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Mount Ida College cheerleading team competed at the Advanced Spirit competition at the Rhode Island Convention Center on Saturday March 26th and came home with a 5th place finish in the Co-Ed category for Division 3.

Head Coach Lindsay Smith was enthused about the first competitive experience of the 2016 season, in which eight of the eleven athletes on the roster took part in the routine.

"It was a very stressful week for us as a team so I honestly could not be more proud of them for their first performance," said Smith, in her first season with the squad. "It was like watching a completely different team out there!"

The Mustangs have their next competitions at Woburn High School on Saturday April 2nd and their last competition in Durham, New Hampshire on April 16th.
