Pina, Hart Nab ECFC Weekly Honors

NEWTON, Mass. -- Mount Ida football sophomore quarterback Mike Pina (Brockton, Mass.) and junior defensive back DeSean Hart (Mays Landing, N.J.) were selected as the offensive and defensive players of the week after Saturday's 58-41 win over the Anna Maria AMCATs in ECFC play.

Pina led the high-powered Mustang attack on Saturday with 305 yards through the air and 3 touchdowns, while adding 8 rushes for 55 yards and a touchdown with his legs. His ability to escape the pocket consistently put pressure on the AMCATs defense. His best game in a Mustangs uniform, Pina's leadership was on full display as he managed the game and led the Mustangs to a much-needed win.
Not to be outshown by the offense, Hart was brilliant on the defensive side of the ball, registering 10 tackles on the afternoon. Shutting down the Anna Maria wide receivers, Hart added a forced fumble, which he recovered and returned for a 90-yard touchdown, as well as a pick-six, which he returned over 100 yards to the endzone.
For the Mustangs, the win came at a terrific time and gives the team momentum heading into the season-finale on Saturday as they travel to Husson for a 12:00pm kickoff.
