Newton, Mass. – The Mount Ida College Men's Lacrosse team held off Norwich University's last minute comeback to win 8-7 at Alumni Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Tuesday night.

The Mustangs improve to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play while the Cadets go to 5-7 overall and 2-2 in GNAC play.

However, the Cadets responded with four goals in the second quarter against Mount Ida's two to tie the game heading into halftime. Junior midfielder Da'zhon Johnston (Southhampton, Bermuda) scored two of the four Mustang goals.

The third quarter ended up just like the first where Mount Ida controlled the entire scoring column by posting three goals before heading into the last quarter of play. Dakari Eason (Norwalk, Conn.) led off the third by scoring on a great assist from Marcus Donahue (Braintree, Mass.). Then, with two minutes left to go, senior Jon Berry (Chichester, N.H.) scored another tally to put the Mustangs up 6-4. Immediately following the face off, Ryan Trinque (East Greenwich, R.I.) took the ball and scored four seconds later to extend the advantage.

Heading into the fourth, the Cadets made a quick run in the last three minutes of play to cut the to Mustang lead to one. Connor Bourque (Goffstown, N.H.) led the attack with the first goal, which was then followed by Aidan Moulton (Danvers, Mass.) on an assist from Nolan Aurelia (Stratford, Conn.). After winning the faceoff, Norwich came down to score 24 seconds later by Sophomore Cody Moore (Canton, N.Y.).

Mustang's goalie Cam Hayward (Derry, N.H.) had 21 saves on the night compared to Cadets goal keeper Ian Kriger (Burlington, Mass.) who had 8. Moore ripped a shot with 27 seconds left in the contest, but Hayward made his 21st save of the contest to stymie the Cadets.
