PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Mount Ida College won their fourth straight game and improved to 4-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) by scoring five straight goals to open the game and holding off Johnson & Wales for a 9-8 victory on Tuesday evening.
The Mustangs got the go-ahead goal halfway through the fourth quarter from Wyatt Sullivan (Arlington, Mass.) to break an 8-8 tie after JWU had come back to tie the game.

The Wildcats responded with a 6-1 run over the next two quarters to tie the game at 6-6. Erik Lindaas (Milford, Pa) scored both of his goals during that stretch and Sam Sears (Baltimore, Md.) found the back of the net to tie the game with 4:08 left in the third quarter.
The rest of the game, every time Mount Ida pulled ahead, the Wildcats had an answer, except at the end. Max Stone (Burlington, Conn.) scored his second goal of the night at the 12:45 mark of the fourth quarter to bring JWU back from a two-goal deficit. Sullivan scored the eventual game-winner with 7:40 remaining the game.
The Mustangs clamped down on the Wildcat defensively as JWU did not get a shot off in the final five minutes. Mount Ida had a 42-35 edge in shots and forced Johnson & Wales into 17 turnovers. Cam Hayward (Derry, N.H.) stopped eight shots, while JWU goalie Bradley Morris (Bayport, NY) made 17 saves.
Mount Ida heads to to Anna Maria College on Saturday for a 1:00 pm game in Paxton.
The Wildcats also go on the road Saturday to take on St. Joseph's at 1 p.m.
