UNION, N.J. --  Junior Tyler Roberto (Hamilton, N.J.) scored four goals to lead Kean to a 13-4 non-league college men’s lacrosse victory over Mount Ida Friday evening at Alumni Stadium.

The host Cougars (3-0) overcame an early 2-0 deficit by netting the next 10 goals of the contest, as Kean took an 8-2 lead at the break and extended that margin with a pair of tallies in the opening 1:38 after intermission.  The visiting Mustangs (0-3) closed back to 11-4 with 35 seconds remaining in the third stanza on senior Marcus Donahue’s (Braintree, Mass.) man-up marker, but Kean received a pair of fourth quarter man-up tallies off the sticks of senior Tom Kelly (Stony Point, N.Y.) and sophomore Matthew Schwartz (Point Pleasant, N.J.) to account for the final margin.

Kelly finished with a hat trick in the triumph for the Cougars, who received a pair of goals and an assist from sophomore Cole Blackley (Erma, N.J.) along with a marker and four helpers from junior Mike Snellen (Glen Gardner, N.J.).  Senior Scott Royster (Franklin Park, N.J.) and sophomore Jake Frankovits (Little Falls, N.J.) chipped in with single tallies for Kean, which received two assists from sophomore Andrew Yenesel (Denville, N.J.) and a single helper off the stick of junior Jason Andreadis (Monroe Township, N.J.).

Junior Kyle Ton (Norwich, Conn.) netted a goal and an assist in the setback for Mount Ida, which also received markers from junior Owen LaPorte (Farmington, Conn.) and sophomore Allan Stein (Levittown, N.Y.) as well as an assist off the stick of sophomore Dakari Eason (Norwalk, Conn.).  Junior Ryan Sieb (Warren, N.J.) picked up the win in goal for Kean without making a save in 55-plus minutes of play, as freshman Thomas Francy (Keyport, N.J.) recorded a pair of stops in the final four-plus minutes of action.  Senior Cam Hayward (Derry, N.H.) made 12 saves in net in the setback for the Mustangs, as the Cougars outshot Mount Ida by a 41-11 margin overall (25-6 on goal) and held a 12-8 edge in face-offs for the contest.

Mount Ida heads to Franklin, Mass. on Wednesday afternoon to take on Dean in a non-league outing beginning at 3:30 p.m., while Kean squares off with The College of Wooster in a non-league clash on Wednesday evening in Colorado Springs, Colo. that begins at 6:00 p.m.
