Vanderhorst Notches 11 Kills As Men's Volleyball Drops 3-0 GNAC Decision To Lasell

NEWTON, Mass. --  Freshman Conor Leary-Watson (Bethany, Conn.) registered seven kills to lead Lasell to a 3-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s volleyball victory over Mount Ida by game scores of 25-16, 25-22 and 25-23 in a league match played Thursday evening at the Athletic Center.

 

Freshman Aaron Waitekus (Norwood, Mass.) added six kills in the triumph for the visiting Lasers (8-20, 5-8 GNAC), who received four kills each from junior David Anthony (Cranston, R.I.) and freshmen Dillon DeSouza (Enfield, Conn.) and Brandon Kurina (Marlboro, Mass.).  Junior Andy Henriquez (Lawrence, Mass.) collected 26 set assists, three kills and two digs for Lasell, which received three kills, three service aces and a trio of digs from sophomore Janci Soto (Lawrence, Mass.) to go with eight digs from junior Jordan Aprea (Newington, Conn.).

 

Sophomore Kevin Vanderhorst (Lawrence, Mass.) notched a match-high 11 kills, four digs and two set assists in the setback for the host Mustangs (12-19, 0-12 GNAC), who received nine kills and 10 digs from junior Brett Southworth (Orange, Conn.).  Freshman Tyler Dorfman (West Hartford, Conn.) added nine kills and six digs for Mount Ida, which received 29 set assists and four digs from sophomore Kevin Keohane (Jefferson, N.J.).  Junior Tyler Shinkle (West Deptford, N.J.) chipped in with three kills for the hosts, who received 12 digs from junior Nate Gyampo (Providence, R.I.) along with three digs from sophomore Andre Foster (Davis, Calif.).

 

Mount Ida closes out its 2018 schedule on Sunday morning by hosting Emmanuel and Rivier in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match at the Athletic Center beginning at 10:00 a.m., while Lasell entertains Wentworth in its GNAC regular season finale on Saturday morning in Auburndale, Mass. that begins at 11:00 a.m.
