Weston Named As GNAC Softball Player Of The Week

Mount Ida junior first baseman Kelsey Weston was named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for her efforts in the Mustangs’ season opening contests on Sunday afternoon at The Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.

A native of Hampstead, N.H. and a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Weston batted .571 (4-7) with a pair of doubles, two homers and six RBI for Head Coach Katie Zuman’s squad, including a double, home run and two RBI in an 11-3 victory over St. Elizabeth (N.J.).  Kelsey added a second two-bagger and belted a three-run round-tripper in an 8-6 setback to St. Vincent (Pa.), as she posted a 1.714 slugging percentage and handled all 17 chances in the field without an error.

Mount Ida, which is 2-2 on its current eight-game visit to The Sunshine State, returns to action on Tuesday morning when the Mustangs square off with Monmouth (Ill.) and Mount Union at The Spring Games beginning at 9:00 a.m. EST.
