The start of the 2017-18 Mount Ida women’s basketball season is just a few days away, and as preparations for the upcoming campaign continue in earnest, third-year Head Coach Katie Greene has named senior guards Patricia Liotta and Breanna Muir to serve as the Mustangs’ co-captains this winter.
Liotta, a native of Hampton Bays, N.Y. and a graduate of Hampton Bays High School, is the top returning scorer for Mount Ida after averaging 7.2 points per game and connecting for 31 three-pointers last year, while Muir, a native of Wareham, Mass. and a graduate of Wareham High School, chipped in with 6.7 ppg while canning 30 treys and leading the Mustangs in both assists (2.7) and steals (1.3) per contest.
Greene, a former standout at Pine Manor and a fixture in New England women’s basketball circles for nearly two decades, describes her captains as “committed to making our program the very best it can be every day. They know I have high expectations of them, but they have higher ones for themselves, and that leadership will be invaluable going forward.”
Mount Ida tips off the 2017-18 season on Wednesday, November 15th when the Mustangs entertain Newbury in a non-league outing at the Athletic Center that begins at 6:00 pm EST.
