NEW HAVEN, Conn. --  Senior Olivia Bolden (South Windsor, Conn.) recorded a double-double effort of 24 points and 21 rebounds to lead Albertus Magnus to an 82-57 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s basketball victory over Mount Ida Tuesday afternoon at the Messer Athletic Center.

Junior Jill Johnson (North Haven, Conn.) matched Bolden’s game-high scoring output with 24 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists for the host Falcons (8-3, 2-1 GNAC), who used an 11-2 run midway through the first quarter to build a 10-point advantage (23-13) that grew to 16 points (43-27) at the break.  The visiting Mustangs (8-4, 1-2 GNAC) closed back to within 14 (47-33) on sophomore Jessica Cyr’s (Ashford, Conn.) lay-in with 4:49 remaining in the third stanza, but Albertus Magnus scored 16 of the quarter’s final 21 points to take a 63-38 cushion that held up over the last 10 minutes of action.

Freshman Raegon Shirling-Davis (Waterbury, Conn.) added 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the win for the Falcons, who received 11 points, eight boards and three blocks from freshman Andreah Orr (Danbury, Conn.).  The hosts shot 41 percent (31-76) from the field overall and connected for seven three-pointers in the contest, as Albertus Magnus held a 60-53 rebounding edge and converted 17 turnovers into 17 points.

Sophomore Valerie Martin (Derry, N.H.) notched a double-double effort of her own with 19 points and a career-high 18 rebounds in the setback for Mount Ida, which received nine points and four boards from senior Breanna Muir (Wareham, Mass.) along with seven points and eight caroms from fellow senior Patricia Liotta (Hampton Bays, N.Y.).  Senior Jaime Moscato (Taunton, Mass.) chipped in with seven points for the Mustangs, who received six points each from Cyr and senior Imani Bumpus (Dedham, Mass.).  The visitors shot 27 percent (20-74) from the floor overall on the day and made just two of 22 attempts from behind the arc.

Mount Ida heads into Boston on Thursday evening to take on Emmanuel in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference clash that tips-off at 7:00 p.m., while Albertus Magnus travels to Nashua, N.H. on Thursday afternoon to square off with Rivier in a GNAC outing beginning at 5:00 p.m.
