WINTHROP, Mass. -- Mount Ida sophomore attack Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.) scored a season-high eight goals in Mount Ida's 19-10 win over Colby-Sawyer this week and was selected on Monday as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvias women's lacrosse Player of the Week.
Kelly added an assist to her eight goals for a nine point performance as the Mustangs improved to 7-1 on the year, the best start to a season in program history. The reigning GNAC and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Year poured in a natural hat trick in the span of three minutes to put Mount Ida up 3-2 and start the ball rolling towards the Mustangs' fourth straight win.
This is the second honor of the year for Kelly, who leads the GNAC with 37 goals and 50 points. She was selected as the Player of the Week on March 6th when she and teammates Brooke Scahill (Ledyard, Conn.) and Jess Henry (Wilbraham, Mass.) swept the weekly accolades.
Kelly and the Mustangs will look to continue their hot start to the season tomorrow night when they head to Wheelock for a 7:00 pm game, looking for their fifth consecutive win.
