NASHUA, N.H. -- The 2017 season is now the winningest in Mount Ida College women's lacrosse history, as the Mustangs moved to 10-1 on the year with their seventh straight win, an 18-7 victory over Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Rivier University on Monday night at Raider Field.
Brooke Scahill (Ledyard, Conn.) scored six goals as Mount Ida eclipsed the nine-win mark set in 2011 and moved to 3-0 in the GNAC.
Eleanor Garvey (Elkridge, Md.) earned her first collegiate win (1-0) by making 13 saves between the pipes for the Mustangs.
Senior Nicole Pavao (Peabody, Mass.) scored the opening goal less than two minutes into play, and the Mustangs never looked back, rattling off ten straight goals before the Raiders got on the board. Mount Ida led 11-2 at the half behind three goals fro Emily McConnell (Dracut, Mass.), three from Pavao and three from Scahill.
Mount Ida had a 17-8 edge in draw controls and outshot the Raiders 46-25. Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.) led the team with six ground balls, to go with a goal and two assists, and she, Scahill, and McConnell each corralled three draws.
The Mustangs will battle with another undefeated team in the conference, Saint Joseph's Maine when the Monks come to town on Wednesday night for a 6:00 pm start.
