NEWTON, Mass. -- The Mount Ida College women's lacrosse team will be the #4 seed in the upcoming Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament after the Mustangs ended their regular season with a 19-5 loss at Lasell on Saturday afternoon.
Mount Ida ends the regular season with a 6-3 GNAC record and a 13-4 overall mark and have earned the right to host the first postseason home game in program history. They will host #5 Emmanuel on Wednesday with game time still to be determined.
The Lasers overwhelmed Mount Ida from the very start, running off eight straight goals before Brooke Scahill (Ledyard, Conn.) answered for the Mustangs. Taylor Yandow (Moretown, Vt.) scored six goals, all in the first half for Lasell, who outshot Mount Ida 20-11 in the first half.
Scahill and Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.) ended up with two goals apiece for the Mustangs.
Lasell led 12-1 at halftime and pushed their advantage up to as much as 15 when Vanessa Pino (Methuen, Mass.) scored her fifth goal of the game to make it 18-3. Pino also led all players with six draw controls.
Samantha Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) had five points on three goals and two assists and Amanda Brock () added a hat trick as well for Lasell.
Brooke Bergeron (Lynn, Mass.) and Bridget Delaney (Weymouth, Mass.) each played a half in goal for the Lasers and made nine stops apiece.
Lasell ends their regular season with a 10-5 overall record and, at 7-2, have clinched the #3 seed and a home quarterfinal on Wednesday as well.
