Mount Ida senior Eleanor Garvey was named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Corvias Women’s Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week for the third time this season on Monday afternoon for her performance in last Tuesday’s 10-7 victory over Simmons at Alumni Field.
Garvey, a native of Elkridge, Md. and a graduate of Francis Scott Key High School, made 17 saves (including 10 in the second half alone) in the triumph for the Mustangs, as she is ranked seventh nationally in NCAA Division III play with a .583 saves percentage while also ranking in the top 30 in both saves (116) and saves per game (11.66). Eleanor’s save total in last week’s win over the Sharks was the second highest of her career, topped only by a 21-save effort in a 15-7 season-opening victory at Wentworth back on February 28th.
Garvey also claimed the GNAC weekly award back on March 5th and again on March 26th, as she has helped Head Coach Nicole Poli’s squad post a school-record eight match winning streak that dates back to Saint Patrick’s Day. Mount Ida, which stands at 9-1 overall and 5-0 in GNAC play, returns to action tomorrow evening when the Mustangs travel to New Britain, Conn. to take on Saint Joseph (Conn.) in a league clash that begins at 7:00 pm EDT.
