Mount Ida junior midfielder Brooke Scahill was named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Corvias Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday afternoon after netting 17 points and helping the Mustangs advance to the conference semifinals for the second straight season last week.
Scahill, a native of Gales Ferry, Conn. and a graduate of Ledyard High School, amassed a dozen points (one off her school single-game record of 13 set on March 29th against Wheelock) with seven goals and five assists in last Saturday’s 19-8 GNAC quarterfinal round victory over Norwich at Alumni Field, as she became the second player in school history to top the 100 point mark in a single season with her performance. Brooke, who also copped the GNAC Corvias Player of the Week accolade back on April 2nd, added a hat trick and two assists in last Tuesday’s 8-4 triumph at Regis in the regular season finale while also notching 17 draw controls, nine ground balls and three caused turnovers in the two contests.
Scahill has netted 62 goals and 42 assists for 104 points to date, as her point total ranks second on both the team and GNAC scoring list behind junior teammate Alyssa Kelly’s (Lee, Mass.) 120 points this spring. Brooke is ranked third nationally in NCAA Division III play in free position goals per game (2.06) and stands 14th nationally with 6.50 points per contest.
Mount Ida, which improved to 12-4 overall under Head Coach Nicole Poli with Saturday’s quarterfinal round win over Norwich, heads across town to square off with rival Lasell in the GNAC semifinals on Tuesday afternoon at Grellier Field in Auburndale, Mass. beginning at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
