Freshman Rebecca Beaulieu (Weare, N.H.) stopped six shots between the posts for Mount Ida in the first start of her collegiate career and Rachael Reese (Santa Cruz, Calif.) had the only shot on goal that the Mustangs fired, forcing a save out of Lions goalkeeper Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.), who went on to secure the clean sheet.
Eastern Nazarene finished with a 25-4 edge in shots and a 14-1 margin in corner kicks.
Eastern Nazarene got on the board in the 57th minute as Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) netted her first collegiate goal. Lawrence raced past a defender to control a loose ball before firing a shot past Beaulieu and into right side of the cage.
The Lions doubled their advantage just moments later in the 58th minute. Victoria Ferland (Brooklyn, Conn.) curled a free kick into the box from the right sideline and Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) directed the ball into the back of the net.
Freshman Hannah Scahill (Quaker Hill, Conn.) notched her first career tally in the 84th minute, burying her own rebound opportunity, and she struck again two minutes later, slotting home a through-ball from Speno.
The Mustangs will return to Newton for their home opener on Sunday afternoon when they host Lesley at 12:00 pm at Alumni Field.
Eastern Nazarene welcomes non-conference foe Lesley to Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, September 3.
