QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team logged an 8-1 non-conference victory over Mount Ida Monday afternoon.
Jenna Jarman (Auburn, N.Y.) took a 6-4, 6-4 victory at first singles, but an undermanned Mustangs team dropped to 0-3 on the year, while the Lions improve to 2-3.
Eastern Nazarene held a 3-0 lead at the start of singles action after a pair of doubles victories and a win by default at the No. 3 position.
Adele Duval (Redding, Calif.) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) cruised to an 8-1 win at the top doubles spot over Jarman and Kaitlyn Jesse (Marshfield, Mass.), but Jarman got the better of Steelman at the top singles position.
The home team notched four wins in singles play and a victory by default at the No. 6 position to clinch the match.
Cressman topped Jesse 6-1, 6-0 in her first action at the No. 2 singles spot. Jimenez moved up to the third singles slot and earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Chairez.
Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.) blanked Danielle Barnabe (Warwick, R.I.) 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth singles match. Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine) downed Garner at the No. 5 slot 6-2, 6-1.
Looking ahead, Mount Ida plays their home opener on Friday when they host Lesley at 3:00 PM.
Eastern Nazarene resumes conference play with a road match at Roger Williams September 14.
